Music Of Vietnam
Vietnamese Music combines native musical traditions with foreign ones, mostly from China. In spiritual rites, music is used to invoke spirits (Hat chau van or Hat van). It can be improvised and a cappella music. There are also several traditional instruments, e. g. long zither (Dan tranh), two-string fiddle with coconut body (Dan gao), fretted two-string moon lute (Dan nguyet), dulcimer (Dan tam thap luc), oboe (Ken bau) and bamboo xylophone (Trung).
