Ham Lon Mount: A Trekker’s Paradise

The Ham Lon (Pig Jaw) is a mount in the range of Doc Ton in Soc Son District, Hanoi. The highest top among the Soc Son range of mountains, it is labeled as the roof of Hanoi. This name is no longer new to those who love to conquer the highest places. Located 40 km from Hanoi towards North Thang Long - Noi Bai expressway, getting here only takes an hour and is quite effortless.
Anyone who wants to climb Ham Lon can do it in a day even if one decides to hang around a bit longer to witness the sunset from atop. Once can start the foot of the mountain and make it all the way to the top through a fairly flat trail, of which the entire climb can take about two and a half hours. Visiting the Nui Bau Lake right at the start of the trail can give one a relaxing mood and get ready for the fight to the steep.
Those with greater taste for adventure and discovery would prefer a different route which is along several streams that needs to be crossed through bushes. As there is no standard route here, climbers who prefer to reach the top this way will have to create their own road. Reaching the peak through this route may take about four hours. The top of the mountain is a fairly flat area with nice wind and beautiful view. At 462 meters high, climbers can hang around for a while to enjoy the sunset.
