Luxury Cruise Ships Bring More Tourists to Vietnam

On October of this year, two luxury cruise ships docked in Vietnam for a day trip, bringing in a large number of tourists to visit the historical sites and other famous attractions in the country. Voyager of the Seas and SuperStar Virgo are five-star luxury cruise ships which brought in more than 4,500 rich passengers from all across the globe to explore Ha Long Bay, Ho Chi Minh City and other important places in Vietnam.

The Voyager of the Seas carried over 3,000 passengers and anchored at the Tan Cang – Cai Mep seaport in the Southern Province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau where the day trip then began for the popular tourist destinations in Vietnam. In Ho Chi Minh City, the visitors went to the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica; Saigon Central Post Office; Ho Chi Minh City Hall; Reunification Palace; and the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Ba Ria offered the tourists a nostalgic view of the old houses in the city and a chance to see local artists make rice paper and alcohol. At Vung Tau, the statue of Jesus Christ on Nho Mountain, Niet Ban Buddhist Monastery, Thang Tam Temple and Villa Blanche Presidential Retreat were must-see locations that the day trippers did not miss.

1,500 passengers were aboard the SuperStar Virgo who went to Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Northern Province, globally-recognized for being an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The day visitors also had the opportunity to witness the daily life of the local people while tasting the Vietnamese specialties, shopping at the Bai Chai night market, and even watching a traditional art performance show in Ha Long City. Voyager of the Seas is a Voyager-class cruise ship constructed in 1999. It was built as a floating five-star hotel featuring services and facilities like restaurants, bars, a cinema and a swimming pool. It can carry up to 3,138 passengers and 1,181 crew members. Since May 2012, the ship has been operated by the Royal Caribbean International, a cruise line company established in Norway and based in Miami, Florida. It controls 17% of the total world cruise market share and is currently running 21 other ships. SuperStar Virgo is a Leo-class cruise ship designed with equally elegant amenities like restaurants and bars serving world-class cuisines and drinks.

It is massive at 13-storeys high, 395 rooms and a capacity of 2,800 passengers and 1,300 crew members. Star Cruises, a cruise line based in Hong Kong and operating 19 other luxury cruise ships, owns and manages the SuperStar Virgo. The Voyager of the Seas left Vietnam late at night for another scheduled trip to Bangkok, Thailand and other Asian territories like Hong Kong, Singapore and China. SuperStar Virgo left at the same time to travel to Hong Kong as part of its three-day trip.
