Va Cave and Nuoc Nut Cave are two newly discovered caves in the Central Province of Quang Binh and are now open to the public for exploration.

The two caves were discovered by locals a long time ago though and explored by members of the British Cave Research Association in 2000. It is part of the already well-known Phong Nha – Ke Bang cave system. It is also said to be part of the Son Doong cave system.

The new tourist attraction is only for the truly adventurous though because touring the two caves will take two days and one night, including trekking through ten kilometres of jungle and mountain areas and crossing a three-kilometre long river.

Va Cave is famous for its spectacular display of stalactites and stalagmites, said to be even more breathtaking than that of Son Doong Cave.

At present, tours to the two caves are often times fully booked even several months in advance not only because of the sheer number of people who want to visit the place, but also because the local government is making a conscious effort to control the amount of visitors arriving in the area in order to preserve the natural environment and overall beauty of the place.
