Ninh Thuan Coral Reefs: Fossilized Beauty

Ninh Thuan Coral Reefs: Fossilized Beauty

The central coastal province of Ninh Thuan is rich in both natural and man-made resources. It has amazing beaches, sunshine almost the whole year, the (original) Nui Chua National Park, and fresh and affordable seafood, among others. But perhaps the biggest attraction in the place is its coral reefs, natural and fossilized that piques the interest of tourists enough to visit the area.

According to local legend, the origin of the coral reefs is unknown. This is because for thousands of years, the black coral reefs of Thanh Hai Commune (near Hang Rai Cave) is known to have braved against the strong waves and winds of the driest locality of Vietnam.

The so-called “dead” coral reefs is also known as “living universe” because of the grass bushes and wild flowers that grow along them. Ponds, lakes and even animals can also be found at the surface of the reefs. Naturally-carved boulders of varying shapes are located at the shore, adding to the overall magnificence of the place.

Tourists who wish to visit the famed “natural wonder” are encouraged to join an organized trip to make their experience complete and therefore even more memorable. The Ecotourism and Environmental Education Department of Ninh Thuan Province is in charge of the tours.
