Suoi Da: Magical Escape
Suoi Da means “stone stream.” And true to its name, it is made up of long-standing mountains, forests and streams, the perfect getaway especially from the hectic city life. But it is also known as Suoi Tien or “fairy stream,” obviously because of its beautiful stream that makes one feel like they're in a magical fairy land.
Suoi Da is located at Tan Hai Commune, Tan Thanh District in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. It is about 80 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City and can be reached by bus, car, or motorbike from there.
Suoi Da can be reached on the way to Vung Tau, taking the T-junction to Long Hai and turn left where one can find the Chu Hai Church. From there, there is a small path leading to the stream. The stream can be reached from the big parking lot on Dinh Mountain. One will know the stream is near when a cool breeze can be felt, enough to touch your cheeks and even hair. But visitors can always ask the local residents if they are unsure of the way or even lost.
Must-wears at the stream are sandals and/ or flip flops in order to be comfortable and always on the go. Guests should also bring an insect repellant for protection since the area is a little wet and murky with bamboos and other trees all around.
If you're looking for a short yet great weekend escapade, or simply in search of another of nature's many wonders, the stone and fairy stream of Suoi Da is the place to go.
