The Langurs of Son Tra

Langurs are very popular in ${bigcity_Da_Nang:"Da Nang"}, specifically in the islets of Sup and Rang, off Son Tra Peninsula, in the central area of the region. Resting above 500 meters above sea level, Son Tra forest has a rich ecosystem of primary flora and fauna and is home to a flock of 20 Pygathrix nemaeus (the scientific name of langur) which tourists often frequent to.
Aside from its famous langur attraction, Son Tra is also a haven of lush tropical forests and diving with its colorful coral reefs. And for only VND450,000 (US$22), one can experience all these in one memorable exotic tropical adventure.
Morning is the best time to catch langurs, since they are said to steer away from the highway after eating breakfast. According to veteran tourist guides in the area, you should also refrain from shouting or screaming when spotting one because the animal is extremely sensitive to even the least “environmental changes” in the forest. Visitors are instead advised to be quiet and just walk slowly if they want the opportunity to see a langur up close. Langurs stay in a different area everyday, so it’s quite a rare privilege if anyone ever catches a glimpse of the elusive creature.
The Bien Dong Resort is the tour’s next destination. Visitors would then travel 15 kilometers by motorboat to a group of rocky islets, where they would then be treated to a luxury of snorkeling. Rich and colorful coral reefs and different kinds of fish could be seen 2 meters into the waters. Guests can also go fishing in the resort. Shrimp, grouper and mackerel are just some of the fishes found in the area.
After a full day of sightseeing, tourists are then taken to a beach to wade and enjoy a seafood lunch as the last leg of the tour. Visitors always long to come back to the place because of its beauty both on land and on water.
