Recently they just came out with their list of the Top Ten Most Attractive tourist destinations in Vietnam. Let’s check out which attractions in the country are expected to receive the most visits in the coming months:

1. Ha Long Bay Located in Quáng Ninh province, Ha Long Bay features a 120km-long coast line and is listed under the New 7 Wonders of Nature as well as a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site. Derived from the Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary, Ha Long is translated as “Bay of Descending Dragons.” It cradles thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes, each topped with thick jungle vegetation, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Several of these islands are hollow with enormous caves.

2. Thien Mu Pagoda Made up of seven stories, the Thien Mu Pagoda in the city of Hue is the tallest pagoda in Vietnam. Also regarded as the Heavenly Lady Pagoda, this historic structure situated on Ha Khe hill overlooks the Perfume River. The temple was built in 1601 during the rule of the Nguyễn Lords. The initial temple was very simply constructed, but over time it was redeveloped and expanded with more intricate features. Thus, apart from being the oldest, it is also the most beautiful religious structures in the country.

3. Hoan Kiem Lake (Sword Lake) This lake is one of the major scenic spots in the heart of Hanoi and is a popular daily destination of many locals and tourists. Also known as the “Lake of the Returned Sword," the lake has served as a place of worship, a cradle for legends and a focal point of many lives of locals for the past hundreds of years til present.

4. Hoi An The Ancient Town of Hoi An used to be a trading port during the 15th to the 19th century. Well-preserved, the city has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. At present, it is one of Vietnam’s wealthiest cities, a cosmopolitan melting pot, a culinary mecca and one of the country’s most important tourism centers. The heart of the city remains, however, in the Old Town.

5. Phu Quoc Island The largest island in the country, Phu Quoc attracts many tourists from across the globe because of its beautiful white sands, tropical waters, pristine tropical forests and undamaged coral reefs. This tear-shaped island is located in front of the Cambodia coast and cradles several stunning beaches, one of which, the Bai Dai or Long Beach, was chosen by the ABC News as one of five beautiful and clean beaches. Apart from being a popular venue for water sports, Phu Quoc is also famous for producing the best nuoc mam or fermented fish sauce in the world.

6. Sa Pa Terraced Fields Sa Pa is a town in northwest Vietnam not far from the Chinese border. Growing and cultivating fields of rice is the way of life for the Sapa hill tribe people since the vast majority of the land is mountainous. Tourists are always captivated by the breathtaking views of the lush rice terraces which stretches as far as the eye can see. Aside from mountain climbing, a visit to the hill side tribe villages of the Hmong, Giay, Dao, Tay, and Giay is another worthy activity when coming here.

7. Mui Ne Mui Ne is a coastal resort town in the Bình Thuận Province and is a famous destination for kite and windsurfing. Tourists also come by because of its beautiful sand dunes located a short distance north of the town. Once just an isolated stretch of land, Mui Ne have gone a long way in terms of development in the last 15 years. Now, Mui Ne has plenty of beach resorts, restaurants, bars and cafes to serve its many tourists.

8. Mekong Delta The Mekong Delta is the region in southern Vietnam where the mighty Mekong river approaches and empties into the sea. It is an area of lush, tropical and fertile land and is often referred to as the 'rice bowl' of Vietnam because of its production of rice crop. Life of locals here revolve mostly around the river. Tourists who come by will experience a cruise along the floating markets in Cai Rang. Typical sights in the Mekong delta are also many floating houses such as in Chau Doc.

9. Cu Chi Tunnels Built over a period of 25 years that began sometime in the late 1940s, the Cu Chi Tunnels are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels that measure 200km in total length. They were used by liberation soldiers as hiding spots during the Vietnam War which has now become a popular tourist attraction.

10. Nha Trang Nha Trang is Vietnam’s most popular coastal town located along the second most beautiful bays in the country. It is known as the scuba diving center of Vietnam as it is endowed with beautiful beaches with fine and clean san and mild temperatures. Apart from its stunningly pristine beaches, tourists also visit Nha Trang because of the urban atmosphere of a young tourist city.
