Hotel Majestic
The Hotel Majestic Saigon is one of the classic colonial hotels. Built in 1925, the Majestic had lots of changes and expansions, and thus, a breeze of Art Deco merges with the historical flavor of the old Saigon. The Majestic is a good choice for business and leisure travelers.
In October, 2011 Hotel Majestic Saigon honorably received the Top 10 Award of Excellent National 5 Star Hotel in 2010 and secured spots among Asia’s top 126 hotels at the 2011 Readers’ Choice Awards which is based on voting preference of travelers of which has been praised by Conde Nast, a Top Travel Publication.
The Majestic Saigon Hotel is famous for its tradition, hospitality and classiness, and it has hosted lots of royal guest and heads of state. The hotel’s traditional charm and the elegant classical French-colonial design glorify the Golden Age of architecture. Modern extravagance is achieved by paying attention to detail and comfort is provided by excellent service. The Majestic has gone through several transformations and changes over the years, which reflect the tumultuous history of Vietnam. During World War II, the Japanese Imperial Army used it as military barracks and throughout the Vietnam War, foreign correspondents and espionage agents profited from the building. The entry hall with its wrought-iron entry doors, artistic clouds adorning the ceilings, chandeliers, lush carpets, colonial-style chairs and a big winding staircase, give a flavor of the impressive interior. All the rooms come with a pool view or river view. Wooden floors, high ceilings and photos of old Saigon tell the story of past times. The deluxe rooms have parquetry floors, stylish furnishings, and an amazing view on the Saigon River. The facilities are very good. The two rooftop bars are decent places for a sundowner and the pool as well as the health club is excellent.
Location
Location-wise, the hotel is hard to beat. The world-famous Ben Thanh Market—where antique furniture, silks, and lacquer ware are sold—is within walking distance, while the Opera House, Notre Dame Cathedral and Reunification Palace are all also a stone's throw away. Exploring the city’s busy network of streets and sights will surely be an adventure.
