Already the ride to Mui Ne was a singular beauty. We came from the north and pasted directly one of the main attractions of the area. 30 meters high sand dunes spread nearly up to the sea. In the late afternoon, just before sunset a very beautiful scenario, that is naturally good commercialized. Sand surfing is here the fun sport for the people. Mui Ne belongs in any case to those places you will never forget. In the port there are approx. 4.000 of multicoloured fishing boats and the innumerable round basket boats. These little rowing-boats are the dinghies for the fishing boats. A wonderfully view! We stayed here unfortunately only 2 days and our resort (section km 13) was not near the little centre (section km 11) , with its small infrastructure from restaurants and shops. So we had to explore the area with the bicycle, again To go by bike was also no problem. The traffic very moderate and so we could observe everything in the best way. And there was very much to see, like Shipyards, private coconut processing, different craftsmen, and naturally the production of the famous fish sauce. In round fermenting pots the fishes are seething until 1 year and after this time it’s sold in bottles at the roadside. Depending upon the wind direction you have the “smell” in the nose. At the long sandy beach (15 km) between Mui Ne and Phan Thiet there are many hotels, bungalows, guesthouses and restaurants. But just at km 11 starts the main section. The constant strong wind, attracting Kiters from all over the world. There are big Kiter-schools here, with super equipment. We watched these crazy acrobats with big fascination, because in former times we were windsurfing fans. For Mui Ne and the beach region you must take time several days. We will do it by our next visit. Vivien’s und Erhard’s Blog
